If I had to choose my all-time favourite RPG, Ultima V would have to be it. This is my rendition of the bold, catchy theme by Kennith Arnold.
Little Big Adventure (also known as Relentless) is one of my all-time favourite games. It was perhaps the first game I completed fully as a kid – something I was immensely proud of. The music by Phillippe Vachey is pretty timeless, and I don’t know if I’ve done his theme justice here – but I hope I’ve given this gaming gem a good showing.
Remix time! Due to popular demand, I chose to give the main theme to Planescape: Torment a whirl. I’ve taken it in a slightly different direction – perhaps more ethnic action/adventure than the original; but I personally think it fits with the strange world of Planescape (and the city of Sigil), and the journey of the Nameless One.
This is my take on the absolutely amazing Stargate theme, originally composed by David Arnold for the 1994 sci fi classic. An older version of this ‘remix’ was arranged for a feature-length Stargate fan film that never quite made it into existence, which mashed together some elements from Roman mythology into the Stargate universe. Hence, there is some not-so-subtle nods to Holst’s ‘Mars, the Bringer of War’ in here.
Here’s my latest orchestral remix – ‘Echoes’, based on one of the original themes from Destiny, written by Marty O’Donnell. Download below!
And the film was called ‘Stargate: Bringer of War’ – an idea from my good friend Colin Ross Smith of Foghorn Films. The title gave me the absolute right to blend the original Stargate theme by David Arnold with Holst’s well-known ‘Mars – the Bringer of War’ from his ‘The Planets’ suite. The result was what you hear here.
