Since the recent Twitch copyright crackdown, more of you have been choosing my music for your streams – and that’s great! However, today I’ve received reports of claims against streams using particular library tracks. As Twitch and Facebook use the same fingerprinting service (Audible Magic), Facebook videos are also affected. So, I wanted to highlight which tracks are affected, and what’s being done about it.
The tracks affected by these claims are the following:
- The Black Waltz
- Machinery of the Stars
- A New Year
- Growing Up
- Life Is
These tracks were released as part of a Silva Screen co-release, under the proviso that none of the tracks would enter audio fingerprinting services, like the ones used by Twitch and YouTube to identify copyrighted music. Sadly, this wasn’t the case. We’ve been able to remove the content from content ID services on YouTube, but Twitch and Facebook are still flagging videos.
Silva Screen has been notified, and they have confirmed that they will work with their distributor to resolve the issue. In the meantime, I recommend that you avoid using these particular tracks on stream and Facebook videos. However, YouTube videos are unaffected.
Additionally, all other tracks in the library are unaffected by this issue, and are fine to use on YouTube, Twitch and Facebook.
Thanks for your patience and support, and I will keep you updated on any progress!
