Omega

Monomyth – The Call

Our lives have their own excitement, and they help us see the beyond the mundane and reach for the stars. The Monomyth main theme gets its first dramatic airing, with full orchestral and driving percussion & electronics, but dropping away to a sobering reminder of the protagonist’s place in the universe. Part of the ‘Monomyth’ album project.
Monomyth – The Things That Keep Us Here

Family. Duty. The things that keep us grounded, what keep us from giving up on our hopes, but what also holds us back from stepping across the precipice into the unknown. Ambient, effected piano and synth create a thoughtful, slightly melancholy atmosphere. Part of the ‘Monomyth’ album project.
Monomyth – The Fall

Sometimes, in spite of our best efforts, we fail. What matters is what we do next. A dark brass chord signals a dark change, the uncertainty. Solo cello fights to find some sense, but fails again. Soft, emotional strings signal the certainty and power that the protagonist requires to rise again. Part of the ‘Monomyth’ album project.
Petrichor

Ambient, wafting synth pads and distorted leads set the scene for some humble, soft piano — giving way to a luxurious swell of warm synth tones at the height of the track. Just like the smell of soil after summer rain.
Ascension

Sweeping orchestra, with a touch of sadness, a pinch of melancholy, but a smidgeon of hope for balance – a modern tone poem for the trials of overcoming adversity. A simple, distorted synth helps drive the orchestra forward.
Chronicle

A cinematic opening to a project that never came to be. Dark, ambient tones give way to an orchestral rise, and then to a simple melody played on a Duduk (an Armenian clarinet), accompanied by orchestra.

The Legend of Kvothe

An adventurous fantasy piece inspired by the protagonist from Patrick Rothfuss’ book series, the Kingkiller Chronicle (The Name of the Wind, The Wise Man’s Fear). Features plenty of ‘lute’ playing, starting out soft and sweet, but building up to a tavern showdown with the orchestra.
Jade
