Can I use your music in a commercial project for free?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes – as long as you credit me for the use of my music.<\/p>\n

Can I use your music for free in videos released on my monetised YouTube channel?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes – as long as you credit me. For YouTube channels, you will need to provide a credit (at least stating my name ‘Scott Buckley) in the description below the video. If you don’t you will likely receive an automated copyright claim from me. But don’t worry – if you add a credit to your description, you can have the claim removed by following some quick instructions on this page: Copyright Claims Release<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Your music is free?! How do you make money, then?
\n<\/strong>I’m supported by some fabulous Patreon donors<\/a> who chip in a few bucks every month; on top of some equally fabulous one-off donors through PayPal. I also earn income when my music is streamed on platforms like YouTube, Spotify, etc. If you want to donate<\/a> though, feel free! I also license my music to those who cannot attribute my work (see below).<\/p>\n

I can’t give you credit. Can I still use your music for free?<\/strong>
\nSadly, no. You will need to buy a license – but I’ve tried to keep them pretty affordable. You can request a license on this page: ‘Licensing<\/a>‘.<\/p>\n

I want to release an album to streaming services under my own artist name or label. Can I use your music?
\n<\/strong>No. There is no easy and obvious way to credit me on these platforms, and so the CC-BY license cannot be followed. I will also not grant a license for this purpose. Please make your own music, or work with someone who can.<\/p>\n

Are your remixes available under CC-BY as well?<\/strong>
\nNo. The remixes<\/a> contain copyrighted material from the original composers, and therefore I do not own the rights to license the material. I create the remixes for a bit of fun, and to share my love of great gaming music – but I cannot license them to you for commercial use. You may download and share the remixes, but if you decide to use a remix in your own project, you do so at your own risk.<\/p>\n

Why can’t I just download a .zip file of all your library tracks?<\/strong>
\nAt the moment, my web hosting has limited bandwidth. If I just let everyone download a huge .zip file, then there will be big problems. But never fear, I hope to upgrade the hosting plan soon. I’ve received a copyright claim from you on my YouTube video. Why?<\/strong>
\nMy library is protected by a copyright management system called ‘Smart Content ID’. The system looks at your video descriptions to find a credit for the use of my music, and if it doesn’t find one, it will place a claim on your video. But don’t worry!
