Yes! Star Wars VII has REAL Puppet Characters Again!

J.J. Abrams released a short video this morning showing bits of the Star Wars set in Abu Dhabi, spruiking UNICEF and what-not. Bu J.J. is upstaged by the coolest puppeteered character I’ve seen in a while. I’m SOO glad to see this. I despise episodes I, II and III for their tragic overuse of CGI to create characters that had no gravity or depth – odd animations that felt out of place with the live action. ‘Your Number’s Up’ is released on the ‘tube!

‘Your Number’s Up’ is a short film I scored about a year or so ago. Recently, it was released on YouTube by director Colin Ross Smith, and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Once I ‘Remixed’ the Stargate Theme for a Fan-Film…

And the film was called ‘Stargate: Bringer of War’ – an idea from my good friend Colin Ross Smith of Foghorn Films. The title gave me the absolute right to blend the original Stargate theme by David Arnold with Holst’s well-known ‘Mars – the Bringer of War’ from his ‘The Planets’ suite.
